An Act to authorize
a group of manufacturers
of Ontario wines to sell
Vintners Quality Alliance wines

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1.  (1)  Subsection 3 (1) of the Liquor Control Act, as amended by the Statutes of Ontario, 1994, chapter 9, section 2 and 1996, chapter 26, section 2, is amended by adding the following clause:

(e.1) to authorize a group of wineries that manufacture Ontario wine or a partnership or corporation, all of whose partners or shareholders are wineries that manufacture Ontario wine, to sell Vintners Quality Alliance wine, as defined in the Vintners Quality Alliance Act, 1999, in the circumstances specified in the regulations made under this Act and in accordance with the conditions prescribed by the regulations made under this Act;

(2)  Clause 3 (1) (f) of the Act, as re-enacted by the Statutes of Ontario, 1994, chapter 9, section 2, is amended by adding "or (e.1)" at the end.

(3)  Clause 3 (2) (a) of the Act, as enacted by the Statutes of Ontario, 1994, chapter 9, section 2, is amended by adding "or (e.1)" at the end.

2.  Subsection 8 (1) of the Act, as re-enacted by the Statutes of Ontario, 1994, chapter 9, section 4 and amended by 1996, chapter 26, section 2, is amended by adding the following clause:

(f.1) prescribing the circumstances and conditions mentioned in clause 3 (1) (e.1);

Commencement

3.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

4.  The short title of this Act is the VQA Wine Stores Act, 2003.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Liquor Control Act to provide the Liquor Control Board with the power to authorize a group that manufactures Ontario wine to sell Vintners Quality Alliance wine.
