What is the Community Outreach Program?
The Community Outreach Program is a free program offered by the Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations branch of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It is designed to bring educational and special programming about Ontario’s Parliament into communities throughout the province. Our experienced staff visit groups in their own community to provide customized programming focusing on the function of Parliament, governance, key roles, and active citizenship.

Who can apply for the Community Outreach Program?
Any interested community organization or school in Ontario can apply. Each program is tailored to the individual group.

When can you come to my community?
Please refer to our Community Outreach Schedule to see when we will be in your area. We will do our best to coordinate a program in your community as soon as possible once we receive your request online.

How do I request a Community Outreach Program?
Submit an online request form providing information about your group.

Can I submit more than one request?
Only one request per organization/school can be submitted. However, we may be able to accommodate up to 3 separate groups/programs for your organization/school. Programs for other groups in your area will also be considered during the same visit.

I live in another province. Can I apply?
No, only Ontario residents are eligible for this program.

What is the maximum number of participants that can participate per program?
The maximum group size is 50 people at one time or 35 for ESL and newcomer groups.

How long is the program?
While each program is tailored to the audience and program duration may vary, the program typically lasts approximately two hours.

What is the focus of the program?
Each program focuses on civic engagement, the function of Parliament, governance, key roles, and responsibilities. All our programs are interactive, with an engaging presentation and a participatory activity. We will work closely with the organizer to tailor the program to provide the best experience for each group.

Does my group need to have some knowledge about Parliament in order to request a program?
No. The program is designed to introduce you to Ontario’s Parliament and to enhance your knowledge and promote civic engagement.

Is there a cost to the program?
No, the program is free.

How quickly will you respond to my request?
We will do our best to contact you via email or telephone within 3-5 business days.
