Bill 141 2004
An Act to amend the
Building Code Act, 1992
respecting home fire sprinklers
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. Section 8 of the Building Code Act, 1992, as amended by the Statutes of Ontario, 1997, chapter 30, Schedule B, section 7, 1999, chapter 12, Schedule M, section 5, 2002, chapter 9, section 14 and 2002, chapter 17, Schedule F, Table, is amended by adding the following subsection:
Sprinkler system required
(1.0.1) No person shall construct a new detached house, semi-detached house or row house that is not equipped with a sprinkler system that conforms with the regulations.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on a day to be named by proclamation of the Lieutenant Governor.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Home Fire Sprinkler Act, 2004.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The purpose of the Bill is to require that sprinkler systems be incorporated into the construction of new detached houses, semi-detached houses and row houses.
