Bill 106 2019

An Act to proclaim the month of July as Egyptian Heritage Month

As the birthplace to some of the world’s first civilizations, Egypt has thousands of years of history and has seen hundreds of different empires, kingdoms and cultures. Egypt’s history is rich with many complex and unique cultures and empires.

Canada is home to hundreds of thousands of Egyptian-Canadians who contribute to the economy, culture and advancement of Canada and Ontario through substantial contributions to many fields, including academia, medicine, pharmacy, nuclear energy, aviation, engineering and many trades and businesses.

On July 23, Egyptians across the globe celebrate Egypt National Day. The holiday marks the birth of Egypt as an independent republic and a shift towards a more democratic form of government.

Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Egyptian Heritage Month

1 The month of July in each year is proclaimed as Egyptian Heritage Month.

2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
