An Act to amend the Wireless Services Agreements Act, 2013 to require suppliers to provide billing statements in a paper format, free of charge, on request

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  Paragraph 15 of subsection 10 (1) of the Wireless Services Agreements Act, 2013 is repealed and the following substituted:

  15.  The terms and methods of payments payable by the consumer under the agreement, including the currency in which amounts are expressed, if not in Canadian currency.

   2.  The Act is amended by adding the following section:

Paper bill free of charge

   10.1  (1)  A supplier shall provide billing statements to a consumer in a paper format, free of charge.

Exception

   (2)  Subsection (1) does not apply if the consumer informs the supplier that he or she does not want to receive billing statements in a paper format.

   3.  Subsection 11 (1) of the Act is amended by adding "or 10.1 (1)" at the end.

   4.  Clause 21 (1) (a) of the Act is amended by adding "10.1 (1)" after "10 (1) or (2)".

Commencement

   5.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   6.  The short title of this Act is the Wireless Services Agreements Amendment Act (Paper Billing Statements), 2014.

The Bill amends the Wireless Services Agreements Act, 2013 to require suppliers to provide billing statements to consumers in a paper format, free of charge.
