An Act to amend the Occupational Health and Safety Act with respect to scented products in the workplace

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  Subsection 25 (2) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is amended by striking out "and" at the end of clause (l) and by adding the following clauses:

   (n)  prepare and review at least annually, in consultation with workers, a written policy on the use of scented products in the workplace; and

  (o)  develop and maintain a program to implement the policy referred to in clause (n).

Commencement

   2.  This Act comes into force six months after the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   3.  The short title of this Act is the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act (Scented Products), 2010.

 

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Occupational Health and Safety Act to require employers to prepare and review annually, in consultation with workers, written policies on the use of scented products in the workplace.  Employers are also required to develop and maintain programs to implement the policies.
