An Act to amend the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth Act, 2007

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  Subsection 16 (3) of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth Act, 2007 is repealed and the following substituted:

Power re information

   (3)  The Advocate may require any person to furnish such information or produce such documents or things that the Advocate considers necessary or advisable for the purpose of exercising his or her powers under subsection (1), and the person shall provide the information, document or thing if it is in his or her possession or control.

Commencement

   2.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   3.  The short title of this Act is the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth Amendment Act, 2008.

 

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth Act, 2007 is amended to give the Advocate power to require a person to provide any information, document or thing that the Advocate considers necessary or advisable in exercising his or her duties.
