An Act to amend the Environmental Protection Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1. Part III (Motors and Motor Vehicles) of the Environmental Protection Act is amended by adding the following section: Minimum ethanol content

23.1 (1) Gasoline that is used as a fuel to operate a motor vehicle shall contain at least 6 per cent of ethanol by volume. Prohibition

(2) No person shall sell or offer for sale, as a fuel for operating motor vehicles, gasoline that does not comply with subsection (1). Same

(3) No person shall use, as a fuel to operate a motor vehicle, gasoline that does not comply with subsection (1). Commencement

2. This Act comes into force on January 1, 2005. Short title

3. The short title of this Act is the Environmental Protection Amendment Act, 1997.
