An Act to amend the Ontario Lottery Corporation Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1. (1) Section 1 of the Ontario Lottery Corporation Act, as amended by the Statutes of Ontario, 1996, chapter 26, section 6, is further amended by adding the following definition:

"instant ticket vending machine" means a machine that, upon inserting money into the machine, dispenses tickets which may allow the person who obtains the ticket to redeem money or other prizes for the ticket from a person who is authorized to sell lottery tickets or from the Corporation. ("distributeur automatique de billets instantans")

(2) The definition of "video lottery terminal" in section 1 of the Act, as enacted by the Statutes of Ontario, 1996, chapter 26, section 6, is amended by adding at the end "but does not include an instant ticket vending machine".

2. The Act is amended by adding the following section: Prohibition, instant ticket vending machines

8.1.1 (1) No person shall sell or permit the sale of lottery tickets through an instant ticket vending machine. Same

(2) No person who owns or operates a public place shall have or keep an instant ticket vending machine on the premises of that place. Definition, public place

(3) In subsection (2),

"public place" includes any privately-owned premises that is open to the public for business or commercial purposes.

3. Subsection 8.2 (1) of the Act, as enacted by the Statutes of Ontario, 1996, chapter 26, section 6, is amended by adding "or 8.1.1 (1) or (2)" after "subsection 8.1 (1) or (2)" in the first and second lines. Commencement

5. The short title of this Act is the Ontario Lottery Corporation Amendment Act, 1997.
