An Act to proclaim Child Abuse Prevention Month
Preamble
Ensuring the safety of children, one of the most vulnerable sectors of our community, is everyone's responsibility. The Province of Ontario is committed to supporting children to get the best start in life, so that youth are prepared for their transition to adulthood, and families can access the services and supports they need.
By proclaiming the month of October as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Province of Ontario recognizes the importance of supporting the work of child protection and child abuse prevention in helping to educate the public about child abuse and the collective duty of Ontarians to protect children and youth.
Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
Child Abuse Prevention Month
1 The month of October in each year is proclaimed as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Commencement
2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3 The short title of this Act is the Child Abuse Prevention Month Act, 2017.
