An Act to amend the Film Classification Act, 2005

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1.  Subsection 47 (1) of the Film Classification Act, 2005 is amended by adding the following clauses:

(e) requiring an exhibitor or class of exhibitor to devote a prescribed amount of its exhibition time to films, including trailers, with Canadian content;

(f) prescribing what constitutes Canadian content for the purposes of clause (e).

Commencement

2.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3.  The short title of this Act is the Film Classification Amendment Act, 2006.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Film Classification Act, 2005 to authorize the Lieutenant Governor in Council to make regulations requiring an exhibitor to devote a prescribed amount of exhibition time to films with Canadian content and prescribing what constitutes Canadian content for that purpose.
