An Act to amend

the Nursing Homes Act

to require annual inspections

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1.Section 24 of the Nursing Homes Act, as re-enacted by the Statutes of Ontario, 1993, chapter 2, section 38, is amended by adding the following subsection:

Annual inspection

(2.1)The Minister shall ensure that every nursing home is inspected by an inspector at least once in every calendar year to determine whether there is compliance with this Act and the regulations and with the applicable licence and service agreement.

Commencement

2.This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3.The short title of this Act is the Nursing Homes Mandatory Annual Inspection Act, 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Nursing Homes Act to require annual inspections of nursing homes.
