Martin Panamick (1954-1977) was an important member of the Manitoulin School of Art. He used stylized and symbolic forms to depict Ojibwe legends and themes such as interconnectedness, spirituality, and the co-existence between the human and animal realms. Panamick’s life was tragically cut short by a motorcycle accident when he was 21, but he remains a significant presence in the Manitoulin School of Art.
