EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill enacts the Intimate Partner Violence Epidemic Act, 2024. The Act requires the Government of Ontario to recognize that intimate partner violence is an epidemic in Ontario.

An Act respecting intimate partner violence

His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Intimate partner violence epidemic

1 The Government of Ontario shall recognize that intimate partner violence is an epidemic in Ontario.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3 The short title of this Act is the Intimate Partner Violence Epidemic Act, 2024.
