Robert Fisher, Committee Member

Robert Fisher is an award-winning journalist with almost 5 decades of radio and television reporting experience at local, provincial and national levels.

He spent about 30 years covering Queen’s Park, first, for the CBC and then as Global Television’s first Bureau Chief at the Legislature. There, he created, co-produced and hosted a weekly provincial affairs program called “Focus Ontario.”

From Global, Robert returned to the CBC in 2001 as the Toronto radio afternoon news anchor. He retired in 2015, though from then through to the provincial election of 2018 he provided political analysis for CBC radio and television stations across Ontario and on election night for TVO.

Robert, who has a Journalism Diploma from Algonquin College and a Master of Journalism Degree from Carleton University, has taught broadcasting at Carleton and Ryerson Universities, and law and ethics at Centennial College.

He has been nominated for the Order of Ontario twice and in 2014 was awarded an Honourary Diploma in Arts and Technology by Loyalist College for his contributions to broadcasting.
