ET DE LA CULTURE

Appointment of subcommittee

Committee business

The committee met at 0900 in committee room 1.

Appointment of subcommittee

The Chair (Ms. Laurie Scott): Good morning, everyone. The Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy will now come to order. We are joined by staff from legislative research, Hansard, and broadcast and recording.

Please wait until I recognize you before starting to speak. As always, all comments should go through the Chair. Are there any questions before we begin? Okay.

On today’s agenda is committee business. Committee members, a government vacancy has arisen on the subcommittee on committee business. Are there any motions?

Mr. Billy Pang: Good morning, Madam Chair. I move that MPP Matthew Rae be appointed to the subcommittee on committee business.

The Chair (Ms. Laurie Scott): MPP Pang has moved that MPP Matthew Rae be put on the subcommittee, and brought forward a motion. Is there any discussion? Are members ready to vote? All those in favour, please raise your hands. All those opposed, please raise your hands. I declare the motion carried. MPP Rae is now on the subcommittee.

Committee business

The Chair (Ms. Laurie Scott): Is there any further business from the committee? MPP Rae, please. Welcome, and you have the floor.

Mr. Matthew Rae: Thank you, Chair, and good morning. I have a couple of motions. I guess the first motion I’ll move is: I move that committee enter closed session for purposes of organizing committee business.

The Chair (Ms. Laurie Scott): MPP Rae has moved a motion to go into closed session. Any discussion? MPP Harden, please. You have the floor.

Mr. Joel Harden: Good morning, Chair. Good morning, colleagues. I’m wondering if MPP Rae could provide a rationale as to why we’re moving into closed session.

The Chair (Ms. Laurie Scott): I’ll just ask for any further debate or discussion. MPP Harden.

Mr. Joel Harden: One last time, Chair, if I can just implore upon my colleague to make the case to us why we need to move into closed session this morning.

The Chair (Ms. Laurie Scott): Again, I’ll ask for any debate or discussion. Seeing none, are the members ready to vote? Okay. All those in favour of MPP Rae’s motion, please raise your hand. All those opposed, please raise your hand. MPP Rae’s motion has passed. We will now take a few minutes to prepare for closed session.

The committee continued in closed session at 0903.
