EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Bill amends the Ticket Sales Act, 2017.
Section 2 is amended to prohibit the sale of tickets on the secondary market for an amount that exceeds the ticket’s face value by more than 50 per cent.

An Act to amend the Ticket Sales Act, 2017
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1 (1) Section 2 of the Ticket Sales Act, 2017 is amended by adding the following subsection:
Restrictions on ticket sales on secondary market above face value
(0.1) No person shall make a ticket available for sale on the secondary market or facilitate the sale of a ticket on the secondary market for an amount, including any applicable fees or service charges but excluding any applicable taxes, that exceeds the ticket’s face value by more than 50 per cent.
(2) Subsection 2 (1) of the Act is amended by adding “by not more than 50 per cent” after “ticket’s face value” in the portion before paragraph 1.
Commencement
2 This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

3 The short title of this Act is the Stop Ripping Off Fans Act (Ticket Resale Price Caps), 2025.
