EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Bill amends the Health Protection and Promotion Act by adding section 5.1. Section 5.1 provides that every board of health shall ensure colon cancer screening, including colonoscopies, is available to all individuals 45 years of age and older.

An Act to amend the Health Protection and Promotion Act with respect to the age for colon cancer screening
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1 The Health Protection and Promotion Act is amended by adding the following section:
Colon cancer screening
5.1 For the purposes of paragraph 2 of section 5, and despite anything else in this Part, every board of health shall ensure colon cancer screening, including colonoscopies, is available to all individuals 45 years of age and older.
Commencement
2 This Act comes into force three months after the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3 The short title of this Act is the Bishop Brigante Colon Cancer Prevention Act, 2026.
