Today this section of Highway 401 carries 12 lanes of traffic. It is still a familiar view for Toronto drivers stopped at the traffic signals on the Keele Street Bridge over Highway 401, and for Ministry of Transportation employees stepping off the bus on the way to work at the government's Downsview complex on the freeway's north side. The stretch from west of Keele Street to Islington Avenue is reputed to be the busiest in North America.
