ORDERS OF THE DAY

ORDRE DU JOUR

Mr. Milloy moved,

M. Milloy propose,

That, in the opinion of this House, full-day kindergarten is the single most important investment the Government can make in the social and economic future of our children and, on this basis, the House supports the Government’s commitment to ensure that 250,000 Ontario four- and five-year olds will be enrolled in North America’s first full-day kindergarten program by September 2014.

Debate arose and after some time,

Il s’élève un débat et après quelque temps,

Ms. MacLeod moved,

Mme MacLeod propose,

That all the words following “on this basis,” be deleted and the following be added:

…to ensure the new cost of this program does not further increase Ontario’s structural deficit and lead to the tripling of Ontario’s debt the House requires the Government to ask the Auditor General to report on the program’s new costs and the Ministry’s corresponding savings to pay for them to ensure that the Liberal Government’s nine years of overspending does not jeopardize the things we care about like frontline health care and classroom education.

Debate resumed and after some time the House recessed at 10:15 a.m.

Le débat reprend et après quelque temps, à 10 h 15, l’Assemblée a suspendu la séance.
