Mr. Kormos moved,

M. Kormos propose,

That the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, on behalf of the people of Ontario, calls on the federal government to immediately hold a federal inquiry into the events that led to the tragic death of unarmed Aboriginal protester Dudley George, so that despite the continuing refusal of the Harris government to call a public inquiry, Ontarians may finally know the truth about what happened at Ipperwash Provincial Park on September 6, 1995.

A debate arising, at 11:00 a.m., further proceedings were reserved until 12:00 noon.

À 11 h, la suite du débat est réservée jusqu'à midi.

Mr. Marchese then moved,

Ensuite, M. Marchese propose,

That in the opinion of this House, residential rents, which in the City of Toronto cost the average tenant almost $2,000 more this year than they did in 1997, must be reduced. The Government should therefore introduce legislation, as recommended by City of Toronto Council, to roll back rents for each rental apartment to their level in 1998 plus an annual increase equal to the rate of inflation. This rent rollback would apply to all rental units in the province to which rent regulation legislation applies.

The question having been put on Mr. Kormos' Resolution Number 12, it was lost on the following division.
