Mme Smith propose,

That, notwithstanding the Order of the House dated May 1, 2008, for the purpose of conducting its 2009 Pre-Budget Consultation, the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs shall have authority to meet and adjourn from place to place in Ontario during the week of December 15th, 2008.

After some time, Mr. Hudak moved,

That the Government motion be amended by striking out "during the week of December 15th, 2008" and replacing it with the following:

 "during the months of January and/or February 2009 when the legislature is not sitting – rather than rushing the pre-budget hearings through under the cover of Christmas – and in the following 19 vulnerable communities among the hardest hit by Ontario's economic downturn:

Brampton; Brantford; Cambridge; Chatham; Cornwall; Guelph; Hamilton; Ingersoll; Kitchener-Waterloo; Lindsay; London; Oakville; Oshawa; Owen Sound; Smiths Falls; St. Catharines; St. Thomas; Welland; and Windsor.

After some time, pursuant to Standing Order 9(a), the motion for the adjournment of the debate was deemed to have been made and carried.
