An Act to amend the
Balanced Budget Act, 1999

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1.  Subsection 3 (9) of the Balanced Budget Act, 1999 is repealed.

Commencement

2.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3.  The short title of this Act is the Balanced Budget Amendment Act, 2003.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill repeals subsection 3 (9) of the Balanced Budget Act, 1999 which currently provides for an exception to the requirement that the Executive Council plan for a balanced budget. The exception applies when there is a change in government.
