An Act to amend the
Election Finances Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. The Election Finances Act is amended by adding the following section:
Prohibition on non-election spending
29.1 No constituency association shall make any payments on behalf of a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario or a member of his or her immediate family, or make any reimbursement for any expenses incurred by a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario or a member of his or her immediate family, unless the payment or reimbursement relates to an expense incurred during the period commencing with the issue of a writ for an election and terminating on polling day.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Joe Cordiano Act, 2005.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Election Finances Act is amended to prevent constituency associations from paying the expenses of members of the Legislative Assembly, unless the expenses are incurred during an election period.
