Debate was resumed on the motion that this House approves in general the Budgetary Policy of the Government.

Le débat reprend sur la motion portant que la présente Assemblée adopte en général la politique budgétaire du gouvernement.

After some time,

Mr. Miller (Parry Sound–Muskoka) moved, That the motion moved by the Minister of Finance on March 29, 2011 “That this House approves in general the Budgetary Policy of the Government” be amended by deleting the words following “That this House” and adding thereto the following:

“Cannot support a Budget that will increase reckless spending and waste and will result in tax increases or new taxes, to pay for it.

Further, the Budget fails:

Pursuant to Standing Order 58(d), the Acting Speaker (Mrs. Munro) interrupted the proceedings after 8 hours of debate, and put the question on Mr. Miller’s (Parry Sound–Muskoka) amendment to the Budget motion.

The Acting Speaker declared her opinion that the Nays had it, and a recorded vote having been demanded,

The Acting Speaker directed that the Members be called in, for which purpose the division bells were rung.

During the ringing of the bells, the Acting Speaker addressed the House as follows:-

I have received a request from the Chief Whip of the Official Opposition, under Standing Order 28(h), that the vote on the amendment to Government Order Number 51 be deferred until April 6, 2011.

J'ai reçu une requête du Whip en chef de l’Opposition, conformément à l'article 28 h) du Règlement, que le vote sur l’amendement à l’ordre numéro 51 émanant du gouvernement soit différé jusqu'au le 6 avril 2011.

Therefore the vote is accordingly deferred.

En conséquence, le vote est différé.

Ms. Smith moved, That the House do now adjourn.

Mme Smith propose que l'Assemblée ajourne les débats maintenant.

The question, having been put on the motion, was declared carried.

Cette motion, mise aux voix, est déclarée adoptée.

The House then adjourned at 5:29 p.m.
