Mr. Runciman - That, in the opinion of this House, since the Premier has failed to ensure the highest level of integrity for his ministers, and that, while under a cloud of scandal, his government as a whole is sorely lacking vision and any real plan to deal with the urgent issues facing Ontarians and their pocket books, the government no longer has the confidence of this House. Mr. Arnott - That, in the opinion of this House, the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs should immediately begin an investigation into Ontario's industrial and economic competitiveness, to develop an action plan to maintain and expand our domestic and international markets in the coming years. 7. Mr. Wilson - That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should start a campaign to educate the public about Bill 191, Highway Traffic Act Amendment Act (Emergency Vehicle Safety), 2002, that requires motorists to slow down and, where possible and safe to do so, move to a lane not adjacent to the one in which an emergency vehicle is situated to protect police officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel whose vehicles are stopped on the shoulder of the province's roadways with the red lights flashing. 10. Ms. Horwath - That, in the opinion of this House, the Ontario Liberal government refuse to allow garbage from the Greater Toronto Area to be brought to Glanbrook Landfill site or anywhere in the City of Hamilton without authorization of a majority of members of Hamilton City Council and/or a referendum of Hamilton residents. Mr. Arnott - That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should establish a fund to support the families of first responders, such as fire fighters, police officers, paramedics, and medical personnel, who lose their lives in the line of duty, providing a benefit of at least $500,000 to the families of these fallen heroes. Ms. Horwath - That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should urge the Government of Canada in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its refusal to protect and enhance progress on child care and should uphold the 2005 negotiated agreements on early learning and child care; and

That the Government of Ontario should honour its commitment to new, annual provincial funding to create new child care spaces in Ontario, beyond those targeted to be in place by September 2006, by investing the $300 million it promised in 2003 to expand the high quality provincial program of accessible, affordable, regulated and licensed, not-for-profit child care. 18. Mr. Arnott - That, in the opinion of this House, to enhance the role of the Private Member, and allow for the debate of more Private Members' Ballot items, the Standing Orders should be revised as follows:-

Ms. MacLeod - That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario take a leadership role in working with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and the City of Ottawa in order to ensure the historic site of Dickinson Square remain under the auspice of public ownership and management. Ms. Horwath - That, in the opinion of this House, the Minister of Labour should direct the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board to establish a joint trusteeship model for the governance of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) Pension Plan and, accordingly, make it clear that the Government of Ontario expects the implementation of joint trusteeship to be considered in the context of any review of the WSIB Pension Plan. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Energy provide details of developments that have occurred since October 27, 2005, with respect to the Clean Energy Transfer Initiative with Manitoba, specifically what consultations have taken place concerning long and short term procurement, whether further consultations are planned at this point, and also outline a monthly timetable for the remainder of 2006 that will detail the actions and deadlines the Minister will adhere to, to ensure the first 150 MW of electricity are fully online by year's end. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Energy provide details as to the status of the proposal to procure a total of 945 MW of power from the Gull Island and Muskrat Falls sites in Labrador including what the current timeline is for the proposal to move to the next phase, when the proposal is expected to pass the final phase, what the expected schedule of implementation is to bring the power online once the proposal is approved, definitive steps the Minister is taking to ensure this proposal will succeed, and also provide the status of negotiations with Hydro Quebec concerning the development of the HVDC interconnection to allow electricity transmission, including dates and content of meetings had or scheduled. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Energy indicate which of the five projects that procured 2250 MW of capacity coming online after October 2003, as footnoted on page 119 of the 2006 Ontario Budget, were entirely new Liberal initiatives and which were following through on procurements initiated by the previous Conservative government. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Energy please provide the costs incurred to print and distribute the Our Energy, Our Future pamphlet, costs incurred to prepare and distribute communications to Ontario households regarding conservation programmes such as Every Kilowatt Counts and Cool Savings, as well as costs incurred regarding any other promotional materials produced and distributed concerning the government's conservation initiatives. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Energy provide details concerning meetings the Minister engaged in with natural gas stakeholders between March 16, 2006, and June 13, 2006 concerning the decision to halt the conversion of the Thunder Bay coal plant to natural gas, and describe the status of conversion the plant was at as of June 13, 2006, including gas pipeline construction and contracts, costs for those conversion and construction steps to date, and costs due to buy-outs of contracts, legal fees to annul contracts, and any other costs associated with reversing those conversion steps taken.
