The Franco-Ontarian flag: Read about the new permanent displays

April 12, 2021

The Franco-Ontarian flag outside of the legislative building

In March, the Legislature agreed with unanimous consent to permanently display the Franco-Ontarian flag in the Chamber and on the grounds of the Legislative Building. It is being added to the Chamber alongside the Canadian, Ontario and Legislative Assembly flags, and will be installed on the grounds later this year.

The Franco-Ontarian flag is one of the province’s eight symbols. The white and green bands of colour represent winter and summer, respectively. The green trillium flower symbolizes the province, and the white fleur-de-lys represents its French-speaking community.

You can read more information about the installations in a press release as well as in a backgrounder about the flag.
