Looking North from University Avenue – 1914, 2015

Two contrasting pictures looking towards Ontario's Legislative Building from College Avenue

Crossing University Avenue in front of the Legislative Building was a lot less risky when the 1914 photo was taken that it is today. At that time, cars could only go at speeds up to about 50 kilometers per hour - giving pedestrians much more time to cross safely before a car would come whizzing by.

The 1914 photo was taken on August 14th; ten days after Canada entered the First World War.
