Data collection notice
The Legislative Protective Service (LPS) collects a limited amount of personally identifying information from visitors to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. This information is recorded and stored in the visitor management software.
When you scan your identification card the software will only record the following information:
- Name (as it appears on the identification card)
- Date of birth
- Serial number (e.g., driver’s license number, passport number)
- Photo
The information is used to verify your identity and that you attended the Legislative Assembly of Ontario building(s) on the day you've attended.
The information is stored on the visitor management system database. Officers have individual passwords that will record their access and activities within the software. Where printed copies of visitor lists are made, they will be stored in a secure location on the premises.
The information will only be accessed by staff on the Legislative Protective Service and will only be disclosed to outside parties when required by law.
The visitor management system automatically purges the information stored in the database after 6 months.
If you do not want to scan your identification, you can simply hand your identification to the Officer posted in the kiosk and they will type the required information into the system without scanning your picture.
If you have additional questions around how your data is managed by the Legislative Protective Service, please contact SAA@ola.org.
