Mr. O'Toole - That in the opinion of this House, the Province of Ontario in the next budget should consider the following: all receiptable expenses for public transit, including GO Transit and municipal public transit, should be tax deductible against provincial income tax. Ms. Churley - That in the opinion of this House, the Minister of Finance should designate a significant portion of the proposed fees to be collected from water taking activities as financial assistance for municipalities and property owners to aid them in complying with provincial water quality regulations. 1. The Government of Ontario should comply with Section 2 of the Taxpayer Protection Act, 1999 that requires a referendum to be held to authorize the following provisions in a bill that receives First Reading in 2004:

a. A provision that amends the Income Tax Act to establish a new tax called the Ontario Health Premium in English and contribution-santé de l'Ontario in French.

b. A provision that amends Section 4.1 of the Income Tax Act to provide that the tax payable by a qualifying environmental trust for a taxation year shall be calculated at the same rate as the specified basic rate of tax payable by a corporation under Subsection 38(2) of the Corporations Tax Act.

2. Despite Section 17 of Bill 83 (An Act to implement Budget Measures, introduced on May 18, 2004), the Government of Ontario is in contravention of the Taxpayer Protection Act, 1999 if a bill receives First Reading that includes the provisions described in paragraph 1 before a referendum is held to authorize those provisions. 93. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services provide details of any plans there are to alleviate the current overcrowding situation at the Ottawa Carleton Regional Detention Centre. June 14, 2004.

Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services provide the details what special measures are taken in transporting female prisoners from Renfrew County to the Ottawa Carleton Regional Detention Centre so as to prevent them from being harassed or endangered by male prisoners being transported at the same time. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services provide the details of how many people from Renfrew County who are serving weekend sentences have had to be rerouted to Lindsay, Ontario after first driving 150 kilometres to the Ottawa Carleton Regional Detention Centre since the closing of the Pembroke Jail to present day. June 14, 2004.

Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Attorney General provide the statistics on the number of individuals being tried at the Pembroke Court each day during the month of May 2004, broken down by gender and young or adult offenders, and also provide the number of holding cells available for those prisoners being tried. 97. Mr. Yakabuski - Enquiry of the Ministry - Would the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services advise if there are any plans to build a Remand Centre in the City of Pembroke and also provide the details of those plans. June 14, 2004.

98. Mr. O'Toole - Enquiry of the Ministry - The Province of Ontario requires a public alerting system in three kilometre zones around nuclear stations. However, the Durham Region and the Councils of Durham's lakeshore municipalities support the extension of the public alerting zone to 10 kilometres. Will the Ministry of Public Safety and Security consider an extension of the alerting zone to 10 kilometres, and what timetable is the Ministry prepared to follow in establishing the 10 kilometre zone sought by many municipalities. 99. Mr. Runciman - Enquiry of the Ministry - Given that nursing homes are unable, under Ontario regulations, to accept residents unless they have a doctor. And given that there is a shortage of doctors in Ontario, would the Minister of Health indicate if he intends to amend the aforementioned regulation to allow nurse practitioners, in the absence of doctors, to meet this requirement and if not, why not?
