Mr. Duncan moved,

M. Duncan propose,

That, in the opinion of this House, a Select Committee should be appointed pursuant to Standing Order 110. The Select Committee will be charged with examining the relationship between the environment and health. The Committee be given up to seven months to study and report back to the Legislature with recommendations respecting improved health outcomes resulting from a cleaner environment. The Legislative Assembly directs the House Leaders of the three recognized parties to negotiate the terms of reference for the Committee. The Assembly recommends that the Committee begin its deliberations no later than September 2002 and report back to the House no later than March 2003.

A debate arising, at 11:10 a.m., further proceedings were reserved until 12:10 p.m.
