An Act to amend the Broader Public Sector Executive Compensation Act, 2014 to prohibit additional compensation in lieu of administrative leave

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  The Broader Public Sector Executive Compensation Act, 2014 is amended by adding the following section:

Senior Administrators of Universities and Colleges

Senior administrators, universities and colleges

   5.1  The board of governors of a university or college shall not enter into an agreement with a prescribed senior administrator of the university or college if the agreement entitles the senior administrator to compensation in exchange for foregoing an administrative leave to which the senior administrator would otherwise be entitled.

Commencement

   2.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   3.  The short title of this Act is the Broader Public Sector Executive Compensation Amendment Act (Senior Administrators of Universities and Colleges), 2015.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Broader Public Sector Executive Compensation Act, 2014. The amendment provides that university and college boards of governors are not permitted to offer senior administrators a contract under which the administrator is entitled to compensation in exchange for foregoing an administrative leave to which the senior administrator would otherwise be entitled.
