An Act to amend the Members' Integrity Act, 1994 with respect to the placing of donation boxes for Remembrance Day Poppies in members' offices
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. Section 4 of the Members' Integrity Act, 1994 is amended by adding the following subsection:
Donation boxes for Remembrance Day poppies
(2) Nothing in this Act prohibits a member of the Assembly from allowing boxes for donations for Remembrance Day poppies to be placed in his or her office.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Respect for Veterans Act (Placing Donation Boxes for Remembrance Day Poppies in Members' Offices), 2014.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
Veterans fought to defend our freedom and to maintain our democracy. In recognition of this sacrifice, the Bill amends the Members' Integrity Act, 1994 to confirm that members of the Ontario Legislature are permitted to allow donation boxes for Remembrance Day poppies to be placed in their offices.
