An Act to repeal the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act and to make a related amendment to the Ministry of Natural Resources Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  The Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act is repealed.

   2.  The Ministry of Natural Resources Act is amended by adding the following section:

Regulations re Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act

   13.3  (1)  The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations providing for transitional matters necessary to deal with issues arising out of the repeal of the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act.

   (2)  A regulation made under subsection (1) may amend this Act or any other Act for the purpose of addressing a reference to the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act or the Niagara Escarpment Plan.

   (3)  A regulation made under subsection (1) may be retroactive to the date this section comes into force.

   (4)  If there is a conflict between a regulation made under subsection (1) and a provision of this Act or another regulation made under this Act, the regulation made under subsection (1) prevails.

Commencement

   3.  This Act comes into force on a day to be named by proclamation of the Lieutenant Governor.

Short title

   4.  The short title of this Act is the Bob Mackie Act, 2014.

 

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill repeals the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act and adds a section to the Ministry of Natural Resources Act to permit regulations to be made addressing transitional matters arising from the repeal of the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act.
