An Act to amend the Financial Administration Act with respect to special warrants

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  Subsection 1.0.7 (1) of the Financial Administration Act is amended by striking out "not in session and" and substituting "not in session, if no more than 60 days have passed since the Legislature was last in session and if".

Commencement

   2.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   3.  The short title of this Act is the Financial Administration Amendment Act (Special Warrants), 2013.

 

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Financial Administration Act to limit the circumstances in which the Lieutenant Governor in Council may order that a special warrant be issued when the Legislature is not in session. At present, a special warrant may be issued at any time when the Legislature is not in session. The Bill amends the Act so that a special warrant can be issued only if no more than 60 days have passed since the Legislature was last in session.
