An Act to increase legislative accountability for the Premier and Cabinet

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:
1. (1) Subclause 7 (5) (b) (i) of the Executive Council Act is amended by striking out "$500" and substituting "$1,000".
(2) Subclause 7 (5) (b) (ii) of the Act is repealed and the following substituted:
(ii) verify that the assessed amount is deducted from any money payable to the minister out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
Commencement
2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.
Short title
3. The short title of this Act is the Executive Council Amendment Act (Ministers' Attendance at Question Period), 2010.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Bill amends section 7 of the Executive Council Act to increase, from $500 to $1,000, the daily fine for a minister of the Crown who does not attend Question Period in the Chamber on at least two-thirds of the days on which Question Period is held.
