An Act to amend the Highway Traffic Act with respect to privately operated snow plows

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  Section 108 of the Highway Traffic Act is amended by adding the following definition:

"forest access road" means a one or two-lane unpaved road that is designed to provide access to and within a woodland for wildlife, fish and forest management purposes;  ("chemin d'accès forestier")

   2.  Subsection 109 (1) of the Act is amended by striking out "or" at the end of clause (a), by adding "or" at the end of clause (b) and by adding the following clause:

   (c)  privately operated snow plows while the snow plows are travelling to and from forest access roads.

Commencement

   3.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   4.  The short title of this Act is the Highway Traffic Amendment Act (Snow Plows), 2007.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Highway Traffic Act to exempt privately operated snow plows travelling to and from forest access roads from the vehicle width requirement under section 109 of the Act.
