An Act to prohibit the use of public funds for the purchase of bottled water

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

No bottled water

   1.  Every minister of the Crown presiding over a ministry of the Government of Ontario and every agency, board, commission and other branch of government shall ensure that, where potable water is readily available on any premises over which it has control, public funds are not used to purchase bottled water for the provision of water on the premises.

Commencement

   2.  This Act comes into force six months after the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   3.  The short title of this Act is the Bottled Water Spending Act, 2009.

 

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bottled Water Spending Act, 2009 requires every branch and body of government to ensure that where potable water is readily available, public funds are not used to purchase bottled water for the provision of water on its premises.
