An Act to amend the Auditor General Act

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

   1.  Clause 12 (2) (f) of the Auditor General Act is amended by adding the following subclause:

      (iv.1)  money was expended for the provision of services or programs without due regard to the equitable provision of the services or programs to persons in all geographic areas of Ontario and, in particular, in rural or remote areas or in areas with high population growth,

Commencement

   2.  This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

   3.  The short title of this Act is the Auditor General Amendment Act, 2008.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Auditor General Act to provide for the Auditor General to report in his or her annual report to the Legislative Assembly on circumstances where money was expended for the provision of services or programs without due regard to the equitable provision of those services or programs in all geographic areas in Ontario.
