An Act to proclaim
Veterans Appreciation Day

Preamble

Every June 6, Canadians commemorate the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944, commonly known as D-Day. On that day, 340 Canadians gave their lives and another 574 were wounded.

It is appropriate to recognize and pay tribute to Ontario's courageous veterans who fought in World War II and in other conflicts and who now make a positive contribution in every community in the province.

Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Veterans Appreciation Day

1. The first Saturday in June in each year is proclaimed as Veterans Appreciation Day.

Commencement

2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3. The short title of this Act is the Veterans Appreciation Day Act, 2003.
