An Act to amend
the French Language Services Act
to provide for the availability
of certain reports in both
English and French at the same time

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1. The French Language Services Act is amended by adding the following sections:

Reports of public inquiries

4.1 The Lieutenant Governor in Council shall ensure that, at the time that a report made by a commission conducting an inquiry under the Public Inquiries Act is made available to the public, the report is made available in both English and French simultaneously.

Reports tabled in Legislative Assembly

4.2 Where a report is made by the holder of an office that is established by statute and the report is required by law or practice to be tabled in the Legislative Assembly, it shall be tabled in both English and French simultaneously.

Commencement

2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3. The short title of this Act is the Official Reports in Two Languages Parity Act, 2002.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill provides that reports of public inquiries shall be made available to the public in both English and French at the same time, and that reports made by the holders of statutory offices that are tabled in the Legislative Assembly shall be tabled in both English and French.
