An Act to amend the

Employment Standards Act

with respect to parental leave

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

1. Section 40 of the Employment Standards Act is amended by striking out "eighteen weeks" and substituting "35 weeks".

Commencement

2. This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3. The short title of this Act is the Fair Parental Leave Act, 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Bill amends the Employment Standards Act to increase the entitlement to parental leave from 18 to 35 weeks.
