Election of Chair

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. Eric Rennie): Good morning, honourable members. As the Clerk of your committee, it is my duty to call upon you to elect a Chair, as there has been a recent vacancy for that position. Are there any nominations for Chair? Mr. Barrett.

Mr. Toby Barrett: Good morning, committee. I do wish to make a nomination. I would like to nominate Mr. Anand as Chair of this committee.

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. Eric Rennie): Thank you very much. Mr. Anand, do you accept the nomination?

Mr. Deepak Anand: Absolutely. I appreciate it.

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. Eric Rennie): Are there any further nominations for Chair? There being no further nominations, I declare the nominations closed and Mr. Anand elected Chair of the committee.

Mr. Anand, would you please come to assume the chair?

Appointment of subcommittee

The Chair (Mr. Deepak Anand): Good morning, honourable members. The committee membership motion that carried in the House on Monday, October 28, left a vacancy on our subcommittee on committee business. Is there a motion to appoint a government member to the subcommittee?

Mr. Toby Barrett: I do have a motion, Chair, to fill that vacancy. I move that Mr. Smith, Peterborough–Kawartha, be appointed to the subcommittee on committee business.

The Chair (Mr. Deepak Anand): A motion has been moved by MPP Barrett. Is there any debate? If there’s no debate, are the members ready to vote? All those in favour, please raise their hand. All those opposed, please raise. I declare the motion carried.
