STANDING COMMITTEE ON GENERAL GOVERNMENT

COMITÉ PERMANENT DES AFFAIRES GOUVERNEMENTALES

Monday 22 February 2021 Lundi 22 février 2021

Appointment of subcommittee

The committee met at 1400 in committee room 1 and by video conference.

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): Good afternoon. The Standing Committee on General Government will now come to order.

We have the following member present in the room: MPP Mike Harris. The following members are participating remotely: MPP Bob Bailey, MPP Guy Bourgouin, MPP Stephen Crawford, MPP Chris Glover, MPP Amarjot Sandhu, MPP Mike Schreiner, MPP Daisy Wai.

We are also joined by staff from legislative research, Hansard, and broadcast and recording.

Please speak slowly and clearly, and wait until I recognize you before starting to speak. Since it could take a little time for your audio and video to come up after I recognize you, please take a brief pause before beginning. As always, all comments should go through the Chair.

Are there any questions before we begin?

Appointment of subcommittee

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): The first item on the agenda is subcommittee membership. Are there any motions? Motions for subcommittee membership? Any motions?

Is there anyone from the opposition who would like to bring a motion to have a subcommittee member for the Standing Committee on General Government, since you currently do not have a member on the subcommittee? MPP Glover.

Mr. Chris Glover: Maybe I’ve missed the memo. Is there an opportunity for one of our members to be on the subcommittee?

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): Yes. The previous member has left the committee, and therefore their position needs to be filled.

Mr. Chris Glover: Okay. Can—

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): Would you like a five-minute recess to prepare the motion and present it?

Mr. Chris Glover: That would be great. Thank you.

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): Okay. Thank you.

The committee recessed from 1402 to 1407.

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): The Standing Committee on General Government will now continue.

The first item on the agenda is subcommittee membership. Are there any motions? If you have a motion, please raise your hand so that I may recognize you. Is there anyone from the official opposition—any committee members who would like to bring a motion regarding subcommittee membership? Please raise your hand so that you can be recognized by the Chair. Anyone? There is a vacancy on the subcommittee.

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): MPP Glover, would you like to move a motion?

Mr. Chris Glover: I’d like to make a motion that MPP Bourgouin be a member of the subcommittee.

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): MPP Glover has moved a subcommittee motion. Are there any discussions or comments? Seeing none, I will now put the question.

Shall the motion carry? All those in favour, please raise their hands. All those opposed, please raise their hands. I declare the motion carried.

There being no further business, this committee now stands adjourned. Thank you very much, everyone.

The committee adjourned at 1410.
