Committee business

The Chair (Ms. Goldie Ghamari): Good afternoon, honourable members. We are here today to consider the report of the subcommittee on committee business dated Thursday, December 19, 2019. Can I please have a member read the report into the record? Mr. Sandhu.

Mr. Amarjot Sandhu: I move:

(1) That the committee hold public hearings on Bill 145 in Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto and Ottawa on January 29, 30, and 31, 2020.

(2) That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, post information regarding public hearings on Bill 145 on the Ontario parliamentary channel, on the Legislative Assembly’s website and with Cision, specifically targeting real estate publications.

(3) That interested presenters who wish to be considered to appear before the committee contact the Clerk of the Committee by 6 p.m. on January 17, 2020.

(4) That following the deadline for requests to appear, the Clerk of the Committee provide the subcommittee members and/or their designate with an electronic list of all potential presenters who have requested to appear before the committee by 9 a.m. on January 20, 2020.

(5) That the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to schedule all interested presenters in a location, if all requests received by the deadline can be accommodated.

(6) That if all requests to appear cannot be accommodated at any given location, each of the subcommittee members and/or their designate supply the Clerk of the Committee with a prioritized list of presenters chosen from the Clerk’s list by 12 noon on January 20, 2020, and that the scheduling be done in rotation.

(7) That late requests from interested presenters be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, space permitting.

(8) That in the event of fewer than six registered presenters in any given location, the Chair be authorized to cancel the hearing and reschedule presenters to appear on an alternate date, where possible.

(9) That the deadline for written submissions be 6 p.m. on January 31, 2020.

(10) That the research officer provide a summary of oral testimonies to the committee by February 3, 2020, at 5 p.m.

(11) That each witness receive up to 10 minutes for their presentation, followed by 20 minutes for questioning, with eight minutes allotted to the government, eight minutes allotted to the official opposition and four minutes allotted to the Green Party independent member.

(12) That the deadline for filing amendments to the bill with the Clerk of the Committee be 12 noon on February 5, 2020.

(13) That the committee meet on February 6, 2020, for clause-by-clause consideration of the bill.

(1) That the committee hold public hearings on Bill 145 in Toronto on February 3 and 4, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

(2) That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, post information regarding public hearings on Bill 145 on the Ontario parliamentary channel, on the Legislative Assembly’s website and with Cision, specifically targeting real estate publications.

(3) That interested presenters who wish to be considered to appear before the committee contact the Clerk of the Committee by 5 p.m. on January 24, 2020.

(4) That the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to schedule all interested presenters on a first-come, first-served basis.

(5) That if all requests to appear cannot be accommodated, each of the subcommittee members and/or their designate supply the Clerk of the Committee with a prioritized list of presenters chosen from the Clerk’s list by 9 a.m. on January 27, 2020, and that the scheduling be done in rotation.

(6) That the deadline for written submissions be 6 p.m. on February 4, 2020.

(7) That the research officer provide a summary of oral testimonies to the committee by February 7, 2020, at 5 p.m.
