Election of Chair

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. William Short): Good afternoon, honourable members. It is my duty to call upon you to elect a Chair. Are there any nominations? Mr. Kramp.

Mr. Daryl Kramp: I nominate Mr. Smith, the member for Peterborough–Kawartha, as Chair of this committee.

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. William Short): Are there any further nominations?

Mr. Chris Glover: I nominate—never mind.

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. William Short): Seeing no further nominations, I declare the nominations closed and Mr. Smith, Peterborough–Kawartha, elected as Chair of the committee in absentia.

Election of Vice-Chair

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. William Short): We’ll move now to the election of the Vice-Chair. Do I have any nominations? Mr. Sandhu.

Mr. Amarjot Sandhu: I nominate Ms. Kusendova as our Vice-Chair.

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. William Short): Ms. Kusendova, do you accept the nomination?

Ms. Natalia Kusendova: I do.

The Clerk of the Committee (Mr. William Short): Any further nominations? Seeing none, I declare the nominations closed and Ms. Kusendova elected as Vice-Chair.

Appointment of subcommittee

The Vice-Chair (Ms. Natalia Kusendova): Mr. Coe, can you present the motion?

Mr. Lorne Coe: Thank you, Chair. I move that a subcommittee on committee business be appointed to meet from time to time at the call of the Chair, or at the request of any member thereof, to consider and report to the committee on the business of the committee;

That the presence of all members of the subcommittee is necessary to constitute a meeting; and

That the subcommittee be composed of the following members: the Chair as Chair, Ms. Hogarth and Ms. Stevens; and

That substitution be permitted on the subcommittee.

The Vice-Chair (Ms. Natalia Kusendova): Any debate? Seeing none, all those in favour? All those opposed? Carried.

We’re going to go in camera now for a committee briefing.
