Charles William (C.W.) Jefferys

C.W. Jefferys is best known as an historical illustrator, landscape painter, and muralist. The majority of his historical drawings and watercolours, many of which are displayed in the Legislative Building, were commissioned by the Ontario Department of Education as illustrations for school history textbooks. They have continued to be reproduced over the years and are familiar to many students since their first appearance in the 1920s. A large collection of his work is also held by Library and Archives Canada. The pieces highlighted below can be viewed in the East Wing of the third floor of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
