Why build a new visitors' entrance?

Ontario’s Legislative Building has exceptional cultural, historical, and architectural significance. Opened in 1893, the building has served as the seat of provincial Parliament for 126 years. The building has continued to evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs of a modern workforce.

The OLA has taken steps to better understand and plan for future requirements. This new main entrance to the Legislative Building is a step towards enhancing the safety and security of visitors, members of provincial Parliament (MPPs), and staff.
