The stainless steel blade features 13 maple leaves, one for each province and territory in Canada.
The coat of arms of the Canadian Association of Sergeants-at-Arms is seen on the 24 karat gold-plated crosspiece. In the centre shield of the coat of arms is a Mace on top of a maple leaf, representing the role of the Sergeants-at-Arms as guardians of the Maces in all Canadian Legislatures. The owl on top symbolizes wisdom and watchfulness, while the black bear on the left and muskox on the right are emblems of protection.
