Queen's Park Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Filmmakers During TIFF

TORONTO, Sept 14, 2026 – In a first, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Legislative Assembly of Ontario have partnered to celebrate Canadian and global filmmakers.

Speaker Donna Skelly and TIFF are co-hosting a special reception this Wednesday, September 16, bringing together filmmakers, artists and industry professionals who are attending the festival.

“When the world is on your doorstep, you open your doors,” said Speaker Donna Skelly. “TIFF is one of the world’s most influential film festivals, and I’m hopeful this partnership will not only celebrate our homegrown talent, but create new opportunities for artists to collaborate, connect and showcase their work.”

"We are pleased to host this special reception at Queen’s Park to celebrate the filmmakers, artists, and industry leaders driving Canadian cinema forward,” said TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey. “TIFF is dedicated to amplifying local stories, and this event is a wonderful opportunity to honour the creators who bring them to life.”

Throughout September, visitors to Queen’s Park will also have an opportunity to explore Canadian film history through a special display of memorabilia from the Film Reference Library, highlighting Canadian films and past TIFFs.

“Displaying iconic treasures from TIFF's Film Reference Library at the Ontario Legislature highlights the incredible history and ongoing global impact of our home-grown talent,” said Cameron Bailey.

“Ontario is home to world-leading filmmaking talent, and we’re proud to celebrate this important industry,” said Speaker Skelly. “Film knows no borders - it brings people together, tells our stories and makes a meaningful contribution to Ontario’s culture and economy.”
